The authors used high-throughput mass spectrometry (MS) to identify peptides present in extracts from the purified sperm of 15-to-30-day-old D. melanogaster males.

In the Sebida database, we indicate with a 'yes' or 'no' whether or not the protein product of a given gene was identified as part of the sperm proteome. For this, we used the complete list of all proteins identified in SPI, SPII, or both (supplemental table 2 from the above publication).
