Genome Annotation - concept
To annotate the genome and to assign proteomic data to the genome, we extracted all identified phosphorylated peptides from Mapu. Then we assigned the peptides to gene transcripts that are annotated in the EnsEMBL database. If a given peptide matches with sequences of various transcripts, it was assigned to the one gene transcript that shows the higher number of identified matching peptides in total (within one experiment).
On the one hand, Mapu enables to check the identified gene transcripts on given chromosomes. On the other hand, Mapu provides insight into identified peptides of genes in EnsEMBL (as a DAS source).
